This 3-day journey is the ultimate Moroccan road trip. Traveling between Fes and Marrakech isn’t just about getting from A to B—it’s about crossing the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, sleeping under a blanket of stars in the Sahara, and walking through the Hollywood-worthy Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
In just three days, you’ll experience the diverse soul of Morocco: mountains, desert, canyons, and ancient fortresses. This is a “transfer tour” that you’ll remember for a lifetime.
Your adventure begins with pickup from your Fes accommodation. You’ll drive south into the Middle Atlas Mountains, making your first stop in Ifrane, Morocco’s “Little Switzerland,” known for its alpine architecture. Continuing on, you’ll reach the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you can step out and feed the wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Lunch is served in Midelt, the apple and fossil capital of Morocco, with beautiful mountain views. As you descend toward the Sahara, the landscape transforms dramatically. You’ll pass through the lush Ziz Valley, a palm-filled oasis marking your approach to the desert.
Arriving in Merzouga at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, you’ll be greeted with mint tea before mounting your camels for a one-hour trek into the heart of the desert. Watch the sunset paint the dunes in shades of orange and red before arriving at your camp. After dinner, gather around the fire for traditional Berber drumming under a blanket of stars.
Wake early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara—a magical moment perfect for photography. After breakfast, ride your camel back to the village. Depending on the day, you may stop at the traditional Rissani market or visit a local fossil workshop in Erfoud, famous for its marbleized fossils.
Continue toward the High Atlas, stopping at the dramatic Todra Gorges, where canyon walls rise vertically hundreds of meters. Take a short walk along the river before proceeding to the Dades Valley, known for its winding roads and unique rock formations called “Monkey Fingers.” You’ll check into your hotel perched on the valley cliffs.
After breakfast, drive through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its rose water production, toward Ouarzazate. Your main stop is the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most famous fortified city in Morocco.
This ancient village has served as the backdrop for Hollywood blockbusters including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Enjoy a guided walk through the kasbah with free time to explore.
After lunch at the foot of the kasbah, begin the final leg of your journey crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. The drive offers breathtaking views of terraced Berber villages and winding roads, with several photo stops along the way.
You’ll arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where you will be dropped off at your riad or hotel.
